Types of child care

Under the Child Care Act 2001 child care is defined as "the provision, for fee or other material benefit of care to a child by a person other than the child's parent, or a member of the child's extended family." All such care provision must be licensed. Licensed child care services cater for children from birth to 13 years of age.
